Rick Remmers joined the Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church in September 2005 as the senior pastor. He has a passion for helping people grow in their walk with Jesus Christ. Hallmarks of his ministry include pursuing effective ways to share Jesus with others and helping children grow through Christian education.
For more than 15 years Pastor Remmers has served various congregations in Ohio and Maryland. Before coming to Hagerstown, he was ministering as the executive secretary and ministerial director of the Illinois Conference.
Shayne Remmers, Rick’s wife, enjoys being involved in ministry. While professionally, she is a registered nurse, she also works with women’s and children’s ministries. They are both thankful to have two wonderful children.
Pastor Remmers attended Andrews University in Michigan and received a bachelor’s degree in religion and a master of divinity. While pastoring in Ohio he received a doctor of ministry from United Theological Seminary.
Josué Sánchez joined the Hagerstown in July 2006 as the youth pastor. In this role, Sánchez shares his passion for Jesus with youth. Son of a preacher, Sánchez started working with young people in Spain, his native country. France takes a very special part in his “coeur” for two reasons: it’s where he finished his degree in theology and where he found the love of his life. Seventh-day Adventist Church
Shortly after moving to Toronto and marrying his (way) better half, he was offered a position as chaplain for Kingsway College and youth pastor at College Park Church. Aside from those responsibilities, he started JustSmile Ministries, an organization that provides Christian advice to thousands of teens every week, mainly on the internet.
Sánchez’ next career move took him to the opposite side of Canada. Just before moving to British Columbia, Sánchez took a short leave to study Web development, a key tool in his personal ministries: Internet evangelism. While pastoring a Hispanic church in Vancouver, Sánchez began writing a monthly teen column for the Canadian Adventist Messenger and a biweekly advice column for Guide Magazine.
Sánchez holds a bachelor’s degree in theology from Centre Universitaire et Pédagogique du Salève, France. In addition, he completed courses in Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator and Flash.
